Dolphins will continue investing in Jimmy Wilson ? Miami Dolphins ...

Jimmy Wilson is the Miami Dolphins top rated cornerback.

Expect Jimmy Wilson to start against the Chiefs.

That?s right. The team?s seventh-round pick, who has been scored on twice in his limited snaps with the base defense this season, has been the top coverage guy for a bad defense that?s allowing opposing quarterbacks to produce a 103.1 QB rating.

That?s right folks. According to ProFootballFocus.com, which rates players based on their snaps, Wilson, a rookie from Montana, has outperformed Vontae Davis, Sean Smith and Will Allen.

While the bad plays ? like the game winning touchdown he allowed against Cleveland, and the one he gave up against the Giants in the closing minute of the first half last week ? stick out like a sore thumb, truth is Wilson?s had more good plays than bad.

?What we like about Jimmy is he?s a competitive guy. He shows up and gives it his all,? defensive coordinator Mike Nolan said of Wilson, who has contributed eight tackles, one interception and is tied for the team lead with four pass deflections.??As cornerbacks go he?s a little bit of an over achiever. He?s tough as hell and tackles well.?

Nolan said he?s been pleased with Wilson, who received his first start last week against the Giants, and plans to continue investing in him.

It appears Wilson will start against Kansas City today because Davis has been declared out for disciplinary measures. So today we?ll see how much Wilson has learned from his Giants experience.

?He?s fighting his tale off out there for us and you have to appreciate that,? Nolan said. ?In the case of winning a game he helps us.?
